It's hard work...

...trying to find your thumb!

Nash has been working hard for the past week or so to find his thumb.  Frustration mounts as he gets close, but no cigar.  He finally succeeded a few days ago in the car...and we happened to have the camera around to catch the action!  We'll be pretty excited when this becomes a more consistent activity - Nash being able to soothe himself is pretty appealing!  Hope everyone is having a great week!

Lots of firsts...

First plane ride, first trip to Indiana, first St. Patricks day...it's been a big week for Nash!

On the 17th, Nash and I boarded a plane for Indianapolis...not only was he absolutely the cutest baby ever (all dressed up in his St. Patty's day gear), but he was GREAT on the plane.  I nursed him during take off, he slept through most of the flight and sucked on his pacifier during landing.  He seemed to have no issues with the cabin pressure and we had very understanding neighbors as well.  I definitely carried too much stuff with me on the plane, but I didn't want to not have anything I needed!  My mom picked us up at the airport, and we drove to Bloomington so Nash could visit his great-grandma Betty, great-grandpa Estel and all of his cousins.  We scooped up Matt on the way back through Indy on Friday evening and drove the rest of the way to Wells County to hang out with Aunt Jessi, Uncle Ty, cousins Macy and Mya, Aunt Katy, Uncle Clint, Grandma Kay, and Papa Joey for the rest of the weekend. Nash also got to meet Uncle Fred, Aunt Karen, Randy and Janice McMillan, and Cheryl Roller. It was a great weekend...we were sad to see it end, but I think we have enough pictures to help us remember it well!  Enjoy!

Cutest St. Patty's day baby ever.

2 Months Old!

It seems impossible that it was an entire 8 weeks ago that our lives were changing forever for the better by this little person named Nash Thomas Murphy.  8 weeks has gone so fast, it's really hard to believe!  A few updates on what our little man is up to these days:

  • Weighs in at 10 pounds, 15 ounces.  21 1/2 inches long.  Nash is in the 10th percentile for his height and head circumference - but the 25th to 50th for his weight.  He's packing on the pounds, considering he is close to doubling his birth weight!  Dr. Stecker says he's doing great - we'll be so sad to leave her when we move to Nashville!
  • Still wearing newborn diapers, although his days in newborns are limited
  • Transitioning between newborn clothes and 0-3 months, the newborn onesies are getting tighter and newborn sleepers are more cozy - but the newborn pants are still SO big!
  • Smiles in response to our smiles/voices - and when he poos, of course
  • Favorites toys include his mirror and the Baby Einstein musical turtle (courtesy of his buddy Abby Livingston - thanks Abby!)
  • Goes down between 8 and 9:30 in the evening and usually sleeps for a good 6 hours, meaning his momma only has to get up once in the middle of the night (thanks buddy!)
  • Very very happy baby in the mornings.  Evening between 5 and 7 - not so very very happy.
  • Still reacts (i.e. inconsolable screaming) when I drink milk.  I miss my skim milk like crazy, but it's so not worth the screaming and level of discomfort it obviously causes.
  • Still the cutest baby in the world, in case you were wondering.

Nash's First Bottle

Last night Nash had his first bottle of breast milk, proudly given to him by his daddy.  Of course I got up to witness another first (and take the obligatory picture!), and Nash was a champ.  He took the bottle without hesitation - as long as he gets his food, he doesn't seem to care how he gets it!  It was pretty sweet to watch his daddy feed him...this will definitely become more routine on the weekends so I can get a full nights sleep!  That is if I can go an entire night without feeding or pumping - it was quite uncomfortable to wait, but the sleep was definitely worth it.

Evidence (cheeks and belly) that Nash is getting plenty to eat - in whatever form it comes!

A Visit from Nannie and Uncle Mark!

Nash was quite thrilled to get to spend 5 whole days with his Nannie and Uncle Mark - they flew in last Wednesday and flew out this past Monday.  It was Uncle Mark's first time meeting Nash - a very sweet introduction for sure.  Nannie was so excited to see Nash again and couldn't believe how big he's become - cheeks, necks, rolls!  We had a blast with them here - we ate well (Mark cooked Thai for us, we ensured Gus's fried chicken and BBQ were on the menu too!), we enjoyed the sunshine, and we put them to work!

Annie was great at helping us stage the house and prepare for the market - moving things around, taking things down, rearranging pieces.  God love her, it was so great having her help - I would've been calling her to tell me what to do anyway!  Mark and Matt cleared out the garage (you wouldn't believe how much stuff we have...seriously) and put most of it into a POD that's currently on our carport.  They'll take it away soon, so our house/garage will have the appearance of being completely organized and de-cluttered!  Matt and I are working on a list of small things around the house and hope to have the house on the market this weekend, but the latest next Tuesday.  The best help of course though, was just having Annie and Mark cuddle with Nash while we were able to get things done around the house.  I don't think I had to burp or rock him for days, and my poopy diaper changes were definitely at a minimum - wooo!

Nannie and Uncle Mark - thank you so much for all of your help and your great company...we can't wait to see you again.  We had such a fun time having you here, the only thing that would've made it better would be if Opa could have joined us!

Now...a few pictures from their visit.  Enjoy!

Nash and Uncle Mark finally meeting!

Nash didn't get ANY attention while Nannie and Uncle Mark were here!  ;)

Cuddles in the rocker

Uncle Mark making us Thai chicken for dinner - yum!

Fishy faces

The best naps are the ones where Nash sleeps on you - and Uncle Mark got to experience that.  Awesome.

We skyped with Opa a few times, and on the phone there is Aunt Anne - too fun!

A rare family picture...when we have someone else in the house to take it!

Showing off his puppy hat from Mr. and Mrs. Malloy - thank you!

Nash turned 7 weeks old during their visit - SO big!

Loving on Nannie before she left...we'll miss you and Uncle Mark!

Nash's First Road Trip (And a big announcement!)

Two weeks ago we loaded up the car and headed up to Nashville on a work trip for Matt and to visit with some of our friends - the St. Francis family.

My bag, Matt's bag:

Roscoe's bag:

 Nash's bags:

 The final result:

Looks like we left for a two week international trip, not a long weekend!

It was totally worth it though...we had a great time, enjoyed the company of the St. Francis family, and their sweet boys Conner and Duncan couldn't get enough of little Nash.  They loved to "pet" him and entertain him.

Thanks to the St. Francis' for a great time...we'll be seeing a lot more of them soon...because...

We're moving to Nashville!

Matt accepted a position with his current firm in Nashville - we will be there by the beginning of June.  Just a few things to deal with around here...selling a house, buying a house, finding a new job - oh, and did I mention there is an 8 week old we're responsible for now?  :)

So...I better get on that.  Bathroom closets are on the list tonight...
